introduced
today a new version of its GNX-5P Global Location Unit. The
GNX-5P now supports an optional internal backup battery.
The backup battery can power a GNX-5P for up to 15 hours in
the absence of external power depending on its configuration
and rate of data transmission. The GNX-5P includes an
internal auto calibrating 3-axis accelerometer. The
accelerometer and companion firmware support applications
like driver safety and performance by monitoring and
reporting rapid acceleration and deceleration, harsh
cornering and other events. The auto calibration feature
ensures accelerometer data accuracy and minimizes
installation requirements. The backup battery coupled with
the accelerometer enable applications like vehicle recovery,
mobile asset management and many more. “The GNX-5P with
internal backup battery and auto-calibrating 3-axis
accelerometer enables our customers to support new
applications in emerging global markets,” said Dave Mleczko,

The GNX-5P is an economical yet robust wireless fleet
tracking unit designed for service
providers. The GNX-5P includes features like
full Garmin FMI
support including message
store/forward capability, 1-wire
interface capability to support 1-wire compatible
peripherals like
temperature sensors (up to 4), iButton for Driver ID, and
other applications. In addition to GPRS the GNX-5P provides
support for HSPA and CDMA wireless carrier networks.
